Blog Task #2: MMC Walkthrough

Now that you have given some consideration to who you are, and what aspects of your identity are in your control or out of your control, turn your attention to the building we occupy everyday.

Take ten minutes to walk around the school on your own. Really.

While you are walking, pay attention to what you see on the walls of our school. Document what you're seeing with your phones (if you have them) or take some notes.

What is the identity of a Miles Mac student according to what we put on our walls?

What aspects of student identity are reflected?

Do these aspects of Miles Mac identity align with your identity, or is there a disconnect? Why or why not?

Some things you might look for: graduation photos (who do you see?), slogans, posters, signage (washrooms, rules, etc.), artwork, trophies, classroom doors, etc.

Who is represented on our walls?

Who is absent?

To what degree is the identity of Miles Mac students in the control of students? To what degree is it not in student control?

In a brief blog post, reflect on your walk by answering these questions, and share your photos (or photo collage) if you have them.

If you have any questions, come see me.
